Medeo Welcomes Sabre Maestro Janusz Mlynek

Maestro Mlynek is one of the premier saber fencing coaches in America today. This year, one of his protégés has earned a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team. In each year of the past four years, at least two of his fencers have been selected by the US Fencing Association to represent the United States at either the Senior, Junior or Cadet World Championships.
Very few fencing schools or clubs in America can claim such successful results.
Under Maestro Mlynek’s tutelage, his fencers have won over 150 medals at such national tournaments as the Junior Olympics, Summer National Championships, and the North American Cup. Often, they dominate at regional and local competitions. His elite fencers have won gold, silver and bronze medals for the U.S. at the World Championships.
Janusz has over 30 years of fencing experience, and earned his Master’s Degree in Physical Education in Krakow, Poland. He was a two-time silver medalist in saber at Poland’s National Championships.
In 2001 he was appointed Head Coach of the NCAA fencing team at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he revived their fencing program together with Coach Yakov Danilenko.
In 2007, he became the Technical Coach for the saber squads at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
Maestro Mlynek’s students have attended such prestigious universities as Notre Dame, Harvard, Duke, Penn State, Rutgers, St. John’s, and the University of Pennsylvania. Many of these students received college scholarships because of their fencing successes.
Maestro Janusz Mlynek will be available for private lessons at Medeo on Thursdays , starting September 8th, 2011.
