2024 Junior & Cadet World Championships, Riyadh, KSA

What an incredible World Championship!!!

Together, we made the dream of our young exceptional fencers  Sarah’s, Sharika’s, Sasha’s success a reality and propelled Team USA to the pinnacle!

Congratulations to Coach Jon Normile on winning Gold at 2023 World Championships in ME Vet 50 in Daytona Beach, Florida!

          Big congratulation to Sarah Gu on winning the Bronze Medal at the

                                     2024 Junior World Cup in Tbilisi, Georgia

 

 

          Medeo Fencers proudly secured a total of 16 medals from the

                 2024 Winter Thrust RYC/RJCC held this past weekend!

Additionally, we are thrilled to announce that 9 of our fencers successfully renewed  their ratings and earned the new 2024 ratings, with 4 achieving an "A" rating.

☀️ Summer Nationals Day 1: Amy Mao kicked off the competition with a BRONZE medal in Div 1A Women's Epée! A special mention, also, goes out to Frederick Park, who finished 24th out of 198 fencers in the Div 1 Men's Epée event. Congratulations to the fencers, their families, and the coaches! ☀️ Summer nationals Day 2: After an impreaaively long day, Sarah Gu gets SILVER in Junior Women's Epée out of 278 fencers! In the morning, the Medeo Team of Nick Smith, Ethan Boroditsky, Alexander Bezrodnov, and Michael Bezrodnov placed 12th out of 60 teams, losing to the champions of the event. ☀️ Summer Nationals Day 5: The medal streak continues with Lawrence He placing 6th out of 203 fencers! In the Senior Women's Team Event, Yaki's Takis (Sharika Gajjala, Sarah Gu, Amy Mao, and Anousheh Reid) earned 6th after a 1 touch loss in the quarter finals. ☀️ Summer Nationals Day 6: A day of personal bests for three of our young fencers! An undefeated Ben Mao got GOLD in Div II Men's Epée out of 217 fencers. In the Y14 Women's Epée event, Eva Kumar placed 8th out of 233 fencers. Maya Zamlynny earned 20th in the Div III Women's Foil event, losing by just one touch. Medeo Returns to Fencing

Medeo Fencing Club is pleased to announce our return to fencing starting July 2nd. Thank you all for your cooperation and perseverance through these incredibly difficult times. We are grateful for your continued support as we make preparations towards a "Safety/Health First" reopening. This entails following all Medeo Fencing Club Return to Fencing Protocols.

 

We will be resuming private lessons and individualized instruction by appointment. 

 

Medeo will also be running summer camps throughout July and August. More information can be found in our "Summer Camps" section under "Programs". Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Medeo's fencing accomplishments in the 2019-20 High School Season

March 18, 2020

Medeo fencers had an exceptional 2019-2020 High School season, with strong results in both the State Squad Championships and NJSIAA Individuals. Overall, Ridge High School girls  took 1st place and became State Champions for the second year in a row with epee fencers Diya Kulkarni, Jillian Yao, and Liz Chan securing 5 victories. Montgomery took second place, led by Medeo fencers Julia Yoon, Emma Ni, and Amy Mao. The Ridge boys’ team also took second place with Medeo fencers Allen Marakov fencing on A strip, Clark Kokenge on B strip and Eric Wang on C strip. Individually, Medeo also excelled in the 2020 NJSIAA Individual girl’s tournament, sweeping the podium: Jessica Lin took 1st place and earned NJ.com Girls Fencer of the Year Title, Julia Yoon took 2nd place, Katie Lin and Diya Kulkarni tied for 3rd place, and Emma Ni finished in 5th place. In the 2020 NJSIAA Individual boy’s tournament, Allen Marakov became the 2019-20 State Champion, earning NJ.com Boys Fencer of the Year Title , with Clark Kokenge taking 5th place.

 

This was an outstanding performance by Medeo fencers in the 2019-20 New Jersey High School Fencing Season and is a reflection of their hard work and talent. Congratulations to all of our fencers, coaches and parents and we hope for more success to follow!

On account of the unprecedented situation involving the COVID-19 virus and after carefully considering the guidance of the scientific community, local government & USA Fencing, Medeo will be closed from March 17th until further notice. No fencing activity will take place whatsoever during this time in order to keep our Medeo family and our extended community as safe as possible. Please check our website regularly for more updates and in the meantime, be sure to follow advice shared by reputable health organizations during this constantly evolving situation.

It was another stellar weekend for the Ridge High School fencing team. Both boys and girls teams captured the overall titles on Saturday, Jan. 25, at the District 4 Championships held at North Hunterdon High School.
